High-Tech Gruenderfonds Invests in New Dental Surgery Microscope – dentaZOOM®

October 23, 2013

dentaZOOM® is a new dental surgery microscope, which in recent years has been developed by dentaZOOM GmbH from Berlin. The team of dentaZOOM GmbH managed to win a seed financing from the High-Tech Gruenderfonds (HTGF) to start the serial production and worldwide marketing of this unique surgery microscope.

In order to secure the quality and safety in modern dental treatments, more than 60% of all dentists in Germany already use so-called optical magnifying tools, like for example dental loupes or conventional surgery microscopes. While dental loupes provide dentists only limited support, the functionalities of conventional surgery microscopes are clearly more extensive. However, such conventional microscopes are difficult to handle, have limited flexibility in daily use due to their size and weight and on top of that the acquisition costs are very high.

With its clearly more compact, monocular surgery microscope, dentaZOOM® is positioned in an attractive market segment between the existing market solutions. The device will be granted in 2013 and launched in early 2014. The dentaZOOM® has already been awarded with the ‘Dental Innovation Award’ by the German Foundation for Innovative Dentistry (Stiftung Innovative Zahnmedizin).

“The patent pending dentaZOOM® has already created high interest of many industry experts. We are convinced that the device will experience strong demand in the dental market,” said Dr. Matthias Dill, Investment Manager at HTGF. “dentaZOOM GmbH offers a promising investment potential in order to participate successfully in the market growth of dental devices. Not only the innovation, but also the short time to market and the experienced management team have been decisive arguments for our decision to invest in dentaZOOM.”

‘The participation of HTGF offers us the sole opportunity to accelerate the planned market introduction. Besides, we take advantage of the broad network of HTFG,’ adds Klaus-Peter Jurkat, dentist and inventor of the dentaZOOM®.
