Dr. Ulrich Schmitt to become new Partner at High-Tech Gründerfonds

Bonn, 4 April 2023 – Dr. Ulrich Schmitt (37) has been appointed a new Partner at High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), one of Europe’s leading seed investors, with effect from 1 April 2023. The former management consultant has been a member of HTGF’s digital tech team since 2017, most recently as Principal.


His investments have been focused on the field of B2B software, particularly in the areas of cyber security, IT infrastructure and fintech. His portfolio of companies includes cyber security pioneers Code Intelligence and VMRay, financial service provider Banxware and software-as-a-service greentech firm node.energy. With his proven expertise in strategic, business and organisational development, he has completed around 50 transactions at HTGF and guided four start-ups to a successful exit, including email cloud security provider Hornetsecurity. In his role as Partner, he will now use his experience to further support HTGF’s digital tech activities from its office in Bonn.

Dr. Schmitt studied mathematics at the University of Cambridge in the UK. After completing his doctoral degree in the field of number theory at Heidelberg University, he started his career as a consultant at the top management consulting firm Bain & Company.
