FarmInsect
FarmInsect is an AgriTech start-up from Munich, working on a solution for farmers to produce insect larvae from harvest residues. Insects enable the decentralised and safe production of food in the EU through circular economy and are replacing soy and fishmeal with regional and sustainable insect protein. Farmers receive weekly batches of larvae and raise these as a protein source with proprietary insect systems. FarmInsect offers a machine and IoT system that makes the automated fattening of insects easy.

FarmInsect raises oversubscribed €8m Series A to commercially scale its insect farming technology
Agritech start-up FarmInsect has successfully completed an oversubscribed Series A financing round, raising a total of € 8 million.
The round was led by Sandwater with participation from Bayern Kapital, Australia’s Minderoo Foundation, and the EIC fund, with additional participation from existing investors HTGF and UnternehmerTUM Funding for Innovators.

FarmInsect closes seven-figure seed investment round to build regional insect breeding facilities
Munich, August 17, 2021 – FarmInsect has set itself the goal of making agriculture more sustainable with the help of insects. The startup enables farmers to produce protein-rich feed from regional residues using insect larvae. With the seven-figure financing round, led by High-Tech Gründerfonds and Bayern Kapital, FarmInsect aims to establish a production site for breeding larvae and larvae rearing facilities on-site to farmers.
