High-Tech Gründerfonds and DocCheck AG Guano invest in heartbeat medical

January 12, 2016

Patient reported outcomes and intelligent treatment analytics: heartbeat medical, a Berlin and Cologne based startup, enables doctors to measure and improve their procedures. The High-Tech Gründerfonds, Germany’s largest seed investor, and the DocCheck Guano AG invest a high six figure-number into the emerging startup.

With heartbeat ONE the general health and healing process of patients can be tracked even years after an actual intervention. Patients get digital questionnaires, which they can answer comfortably at home or on the go. Participating physicians also use the software to document their surgical procedures extensively. Subsequently, the information from the doctor and the patient reported outcome measures are combined, analysed and patterns visualized. In addition to anticipated medical findings, this will also help to strengthen confidence between doctor and patient and continue.

heartbeat medical was founded in early 2014 with a first investment by business angels. Within the last two years, the four founders Yannik Schreckenberger, Marc Tiedemann, Sebastian Tilch and Yunus Uyargil managed to establish a platform matching high requirements on privacy protection and data security. As of today it is in use at five health care facilities.

“We are delighted to see the HTGF and DocCheck Guano AG on board as strong strategic partners,“ says Yannik Schreckenberger, CEO of heartbeat medical, “Now we can concentrate on further development of heartbeat ONE and position it as the leading system for quality assurance of therapies.” The investment will be used for hiring new developers and building a distribution channel. In addition, a large multicentre study is planned for later this year.

Dr. Philipp Rittershaus, Investment Manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds confirms: “With heartbeat ONE it is possible to measure patient related outcomes and document medical interventions. The medical data is then directly available to help analyze processes, control and improve.”
