New work without burn-out: Corporate Health-Startup DearEmployee receives seven-figure funding from High-Tech Gründerfonds and IMPACT51

December 17, 2019

DearEmployee, the platform for mental health at the workplace will use the capital to further expand the scientific platform and establish a marketplace for health and human resources measures. Expansion into further European markets and the USA is also planned.

With the DearEmployee platform, companies can identify work-related stress at an early stage and derive effective prevention measures against burnout.

Henning Jakob, Co-Founder & CEO of DearEmployee GmbH explains:

“Mental stress makes people sick and reduces the productivity of employees. It is caused by frequent work interruptions, high work intensity, but also by a lack of innovation competence of companies or excessive performance tracking. Many companies lack the knowledge about relevant target groups and causes. Health and HR measures are therefore rarely tailored to the needs of employees. DearEmployee uses an innovative scientific method, intelligent algorithms and digital processes to derive and track measures for specific target groups and to check their effectiveness on the basis of historical data”.

The Berlin-based Corporate Health Start-Up DearEmployee was founded in 2017 by Dr. Amelie Wiedemann, Daniel Fodor and Henning Jakob and initially started as a spin-off of Freie Universität Berlin with an innovative solution for the legally obligatory work-related stress risk assessment. As early as spring 2018 DEKRA was won as the first cooperation partner, so that the implementation of the software will be accompanied by experts from the fields of occupational health and safety. Today, DearEmployee has more than 90 corporate customers from various sectors, in particular public authorities, trade, banks and manufacturing companies.

Louis Heinz, Investment Manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF):

“We were convinced by the team’s industry knowledge, and ultimately by the innovative process for analyzing stress factors, as well as the individual recommendations for measures. The strong cooperation partners are a signal that the problem is relevant for companies of all sizes. We are convinced that the reduction of work-related stress factors is a win-win situation for both employees and employers. That is why we are looking forward to working together with DearEmployee in the future”.

Ingo Juraske, Partner at IMPACT51:

“From our point of view, Corporate Health is a main competitive factor in the new work environment. Only those who know the stress factors at the workplace and deal with them effectively can recruit and retain good employees today and in the future. We regularly analyse a large number of ambitious start-ups. DearEmployee convinced us with her passionate founding team, their vision of “Making work a better place”, the customer traction achieved in a short time and the scientific foundation of the platform. We believe in the vision and look forward to supporting DearEmployee’s development and growth.”

For High-Tech Gründerfonds and the business angel partnership IMPACT51 it is the first joint investment.
