High-Tech Gründerfonds and Bayern Kapital to invest in CargoGuard GmbH

December 17, 2008

CargoGuard GmbH offers a web-based access and control system for portable security containers. The system includes a variety of security and administration functions allowing the sender to choose who, with whom together, when and where access to transported goods is granted. CargoGuard is the most innovative security solution for enterprises demanding freedom from manipulation, theft and data protection as well as quality protection for shipments.

“With CargoGuard, it is now for the first time possible to control shipments until they reach the addressee and, for example, to open them from a distance. Further possibilities to secure shipments are i.e. the four-eye-principle, time lock control or GPS locating technology. Besides, the virtual seal (vSeal) confirms the transport was free from manipulation,” says Thomas Wilde, acting partner of CargoGuard GmbH. “The Smart Security System can be operated from any PC via the USB interface. The software required for this is automatically started on the PC and requires no further hardware or software installation.”
“The convincing unique characteristics and the high market potential of the CargoGuard solutions ultimately tipped the scales in favour of our investment decision,” says Monika Steger, Senior Portfolio Manager at Bayern Kapital.

“We look forward to investing in a company that has recognized the worldwide growing demand for more security in logistics and provides innovative products for this purpose,” says Dr. Björn Momsen, Investment Manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds. “In addition to its innovative functions, CargoGuard offers an immense economical value,” says Jean A. Blaufuß, acting partner of CargoGuard GmbH. “A savings potential of up to 75% is being achieved for our customers by technization of security solutions. That way we revolutionize the market for supply chain security from the ground up. In the midterm, CargoGuard will take up a leading role in the logistics world and grow as a strategic partner for large international logistics companies.”
