High-Tech Gruenderfonds and MBG Baden-Wuerttemberg invest in virtual reality

October 17, 2014

With its innovative Roomglasses, ImmerSight, the technology-based startup from Ulm, obtains seed financing from High-Tech Gruenderfonds and MBG Baden-Wuerttemberg. ImmerSight will use the funds for business growth, thus establishing itself in the market sector of bathroom sales.

The ImmerSight team formed 2012 at the Ulm University and invented the Roomglassess – a technology for virtual reality. The Roomglasses enable the user to totally immerge in virtual spaces thus creating an almost real experience. In 2012, the graduates were already awarded a prize for their idea to use this technology for the presentation and sale of space planning concepts. The Federal Ministry of Economics rewarded the team with the first prize of the startup competition “IKT Innovativ”.

The most interesting feature is the possibility to see, in the planning phase, what a bathroom will look like upon completion before the work has even started. In 2013, ImmerSight started out with its first customers in the sector of bathroom sales and since then numerous bathroom salespersons have been successfully using the technology on a daily basis.

This concept also convinced High-Tech Gruenderfonds (HTGF) and the Mittelstaendische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Baden-Wuerttemberg (MBG BW). They jointly invested a medium-sized six digit sum into ImmerSight GmbH. ImmerSight will use the capital for business growth and firmly establish virtual reality technology in the sector of bathroom sales.

Dr. Torsten Loeffler, investment manager at HTGF, about the investment: ” ImmerSight managed to create a high additional value for the customer by making state-of-the-art virtual reality technology available to the average consumer.”

“With the Roomglasses, the ImmerSight team positions itself in a highly attractive future market. Making spaces accessible and experienceable before they actually exist is definitely highly beneficial,” says Steffen

Gasior, investment manager at MBG Baden-Wuerttemberg.
