Series A financing round: Klingel Group and High-Tech Gründerfonds invest in the monitoring startup , uberMetrics Technologies from Berlin

June 3, 2013

With a promising concept uberMetrics Technologies (www.ubermetrics-technologies.com), a spin-off from the Humboldt University Berlin, secured a seven-figure investment from the Klingel Group and the High-Tech Gründerfonds. The Berlin-based startup won the investors over with, among other things, an in-depth analysis of the communication channels of Klingel Group and its subsidiaries.

“The media monitoring market is growing – we recognized  this and decided to enter this market segment together with a promising company. uberMetrics Technologies impressed with their pioneering technology, which provided valuable insight into the social media communication about our current brands on the basis of hard facts already during the pitch,” stated Jörg Blumentritt, Board member of the Klingel Group. The High-Tech Gründerfonds provided the seed financing of the company, and invested again in the Series A.

uberMetrics Technologies develops the media monitoring tool “UMT Delta” for the analysis of corporate communication in social media, TV, radio and print channels. The startup was founded early in 2011 by a founding team lead by the CEO Patrick Bunk as a spin-off from Humboldt University in Berlin. The team has since then gained clients such as Microsoft, BMW, Zalando and TÜV Rheinland. UMT Delta shows the reach and distribution of corporate messages in order to identify viral processes and influencers in real time and to enable a faster response to current developments.

Currently, only 10 percent of all medium-sized German companies use media monitoring solutions according to the BITKOM*. Founder and CEO Patrick Bunk is certain that the future holds even greater potential for media monitoring in Germany: “The philosophy of uberMetrics Technologies is based on an user-friendly and privacy-compliant ‘do-it-yourself’ media monitoring for reputation and brand management. With UMT Delta we enable companies to manage their brands themselves, with a focus on the various social media channels. This reduces company costs and makes rapid responses to critical communications possible. With this financing round, we will expand our services, thus enabling more companies to build up their own professional media monitoring.”
