Kranus Health

Kranus Health aims to help men lead healthier and longer lives through access to the latest medical care. Founders Thilo Kleinschmidt and Jens Nörtershäuser have known each other for many years through their time together at McKinsey & Company, and both have been passionate about the possibilities of digital transformation for years. Both also had a keen interest in the health sector. Jens is originally a bio-chemical engineer and has years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical sector. Thilo comes from a medical family, his father is a urologist. So the idea to found Kranus at the beginning of 2020 was obvious and also took place against the backdrop of regulatory changes, especially the Digital Health Care Act (DVG). Since then, it has been possible in Germany to significantly improve healthcare through digital therapies. Professor Kurt Miller, former head physician of urology at Charité Berlin, and CTO Nikolay Dimolarov (Celonis, among others) complement the founding team to jointly implement Kranus' vision. To this end, Kranus Health develops digital therapies based on current scientific findings supported by telemedical care from specialists. The spectrum of services ranges from therapies for taboo diseases such as erectile dysfunction to early detection and prevention (e.g., cardiovascular diseases).

Kumovis Exit

The founders of Kumovis GmbH have set themselves the goal of enabling the additive production of plastic implants and are developing innovative 3D printers specifically for medical products. Kumovis focuses on the processing of high-performance polymers, which are already established in medical technology. With the Kumovis system these plastics can be processed individually, decentrally and with a high degree of design freedom. Through the integration of a unique air circuit including filter units, the technology enables a clean room environment within the build chamber. The contamination of the component with foreign particles can be avoided. As a result, the Kumovis printer can produce products such as implants cost-effectively and at the same time patient-individualized.

Laclarée Vision

Laclarée develops adaptive eyeglasses for presbyopia correction. Based on a patented technology, these eyeglasses offer presbyopes clear vision at all distances without levelling down aesthetic standards. Presbyopia appears by age 40-45 with increasing difficulties to focus at near distances and affects 400 million people in Europe, Japan and North America. Progressive lenses, featuring a vertical gradient of optical power, are today the best compromise to presbyopia correction. Still about 10% of presbyopes are very unsatisfied with these lenses, experiencing a reduced quality of life.
Laclarée’s product has been designed to answer this demand, corresponding to about 2 b€/y. Our solution relies on a disruptive fluid-filled doublet-lens activated by low-power microfluidic actuators inserted in the eyeglass arms and driven by a miniature infrared distance sensor. The lens offers a large field of view, is as transparent as any other ophthalmic lens and is compatible with most lens shapes and frame styles.
Laclarée’s team is highly motivated and gathers extensive skills in optics, microfluidic and vision science. The founder of Laclarée is an experienced entrepreneur, he has successfully established a world-leading company in variable optics for cameras. The team has achieved the Proof of Concept, with a fully functional portable demonstrator, enabling a small scale trial with presbyopic people and raising a marked interest in the ecosystem. Laclarée just closed its first seed investor round with Kreaxi and High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF).

LEON Mobility

LEON Mobility was founded in 2020 by two experts from the mobility industry who had clearly identified the problem of micro mobility: there is a lack of an economical and widespread charging infrastructure for sharing scooters. With XOO, LEON Mobility is building this smart charging infrastructure for sustainable micro mobility in public spaces. XOO charging points distributed across the city charge e-kick scooters and e-mopeds where the need is - efficiently, energy-saving and tidily. XOO is the game changer of micro-mobility. With XOO, mobility providers achieve considerable cost advantages, municipalities get a tidy cityscape and users get scooters ready to ride where they need them. Micro mobility is finally becoming a sustainable solution. For free roads, better air and tidy city centers.
XOO has already been able to achieve significant efficiency increases and improved sustainability for its customers with pilots. LEON Mobility is currently working on the roll-out for several urban customers and plans to grow significantly in 2022. At the same time, with the expansion of XOOnet, the individual XOO charging stations will be developed into AIoT Edge devices that will make XOOnet even smarter. With XOO, LEON Mobility will contribute to the successful implementation of the transport revolution and to the significant reduction of CO2 emissions in cities and municipalities.
