Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kai Desinger is a successful entrepreneur and investor in the area of medical technology. He provides consulting services for government agencies on the state and federal level regarding technology transfer, corporate financing and MedTech clusters. He studied at the Technical University of Berlin and received a doctorate with summa cum laude. He held leading research positions at the Laser Medicine Center Berlin and at the Institute for Medical Physics at the Free University of Berlin. Since then, he has been teaching as a volunteer at the Institute for High Frequency Technology and the Institution for Construction, Micro and Medical Technology at the Technical University of Berlin.

In 1999, he founded Celon AG, and managed it as the CEO until the end of 2008. In 2005 he began and is currently still teaching courses in the subject area “Technology-Oriented Formation of Enterprises” at the Technical University of Berlin. In these courses, he shares with the students his experience gathered as the successful founder of several medical technology companies. Due to his comprehensive and outstanding scientific achievements as well as his years of independent teaching at the Technical University of Berlin, Mr. Desinger was awarded the title of honorary professor at the Technical University of Berlin.

In 2005 he was appointed by the former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder to the Federal government initiative “Partners for Innovation”. Here, he was involved in the design of the current High-Tech Gründerfonds. In 2007, the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Industry appointed Desinger as a committee member of the “High-Tech Gründerfonds” of KfW. Since 2009, he has been chairing the investment committee of the High-Tech Gründerfonds. As a ‘business angel’, he has several holdings. 2010 BAND Business Angel of the Year. 2015 he initiated the first Sino-German High-Tech Fund supported by state funds Donghai Security, Shanghai & HTGF, Bonn.
