Hendryk founded multiple companies in SaaS, Healthtech, and Analytics/Data, before he transitioned to the investor side, where he had the privilege to partner and work with more than 40 early-stage startups.

Hendryk deeply believes in product-centric disruption that creates new categories or even markets. As former CPO and with a degree in behavioral science from Maastricht University, he is always fascinated by new technologies and loves to help others to build cool products.

Particularly, he has strong interest in (preventive) health, spanning from frontend to techbio, as he believes the next decade will redefine how we approach health. Still, he is also drawn to all kind of SaaS applications, for example within the space of AI-enabling technologies, whether focused on compute, accessibility, or new application layers.

Being an entrepreneur at heart, Hendryk loves working with outlier founders who leave their mark on our world long-term. Outside of work, he enjoys creative outlets like photography and music, which, much like startups, allow him to build from the ground up.

Four questions for …

What are the most important skills for founders?

Founders should have excellent communication skills as well as in-depth expertise to recognise opportunities that others overlook.

What fascinates you about the pre-seed/seed phases?

In the early stage, it’s all about the team and speed. Gut feeling trumps (missing) data points here, and iteration defines the way forward.

What inspires you outside of work?

Creativity drives me – from music (playing the drums) to photography to building tools. But I prefer to be outside with a camera.

What qualities do others value in you?

Others describe me as empathetic, enthusiastic and loyal. I’m there when it matters and take responsibility even in difficult situations.
