Calvin Kunth completed a master’s degree in applied biosciences and biotechnology at Imperial College London, where he focused on the microbial degradation of plastics in the context of sustainable plastics recycling. While studying biology at RWTH Aachen University with a focus on biotechnology, he developed a fascination for enzymes and the targeted modification of microorganisms. As a research intern at the Technical University of Munich, he gained experience in ecological data analysis.
He gained practical experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing in the field of process optimisation. Calvin particularly values dynamic, science-driven work environments and the practical application of scientific findings in innovative solutions.
In his free time, Calvin enjoys fishing, playing golf, following football and exploring new countries and cultures.

What excites you outside of work?
I can get excited about packed football stadiums as well as the peace and quiet of fishing in nature.
What fascinates you about the pre-seed/seed phase?
For me, it’s the most exciting phase because it lays the foundation for a start-up’s success on its journey from idea to market.
What do you appreciate about Germany as a business location?
Germany offers fantastic training opportunities and has a very good reputation in research, which is particularly beneficial for young companies.
What qualities do others appreciate about you?
I am valued for my ability to approach problems in a structured manner, propose solutions and weigh up opportunities and risks in the process.
