MediaMetrics GmbH: High-Tech Gründerfonds invests in intelligent media monitoring solution socialMeme

March 23, 2012

MediaMetrics technology helps you save time and costs in media monitoring. socialMeme automatically analyzes and filters the social web as well as TV, radio and print in real time, bringing the latest in computer linguistics into your company. This way, corporate communication departments can keep tabs on all media channels in one interface.

socialMeme is a browser-based SaaS (software as a service) solution providing a detailed overview of opinions expressed on all media channels. This is highly relevant for corporate communication departments and agencies. Moreover, the MediaMetrics API makes it easy to integrate social media content into existing business processes. socialMeme sets new standards in media monitoring and has already won over users such as Microsoft and BMW with its intuitive interface and its excellent price-performance ratio.

“We are happy to have gained an experienced partner in High-Tech Gründerfonds”, says Patrick Bunk, CEO and founder of MediaMetrics. “Thanks to the investment we are able to focus on our market entry and continue to develop innovative features.”

Christine Schmidl, investment manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds, on the reasons for the fund’s investment: “MediaMetrics offers corporate communication departments in a wide range of sectors a simple and professional way to keep an overview of media coverage and enables social media activities that have become an integral part of today’s marketing mix to be successfully managed. With this initial investment, the socialMeme software can be brought to market maturity.”

Every minute, more than 22,000 blog entries, 175,000 tweets and 695,000 Facebook recommendations are posted on the internet. These huge communication volumes in the social web mean that manual evaluation by press reviews and clipping lists is very time and cost intensive.

socialMeme solves the problem of information overload by reducing the news volume to its core contents. Unique selling points such as the dynamic authors’ database and the link structure analysis mean that for the first time even complex and widely debated topics can be swiftly analyzed. socialMeme uses algorithms for fully automatic real-time evaluation of news items and contributions from over 100 million online sources in 48 languages. It also determines the sentiment and relevance of the results and identifies the most important keywords, sources and contributiors and their distribution over media channels.

The development of social media and its dialogue communication means that companies can now listen to millions of their customers every day and thereby receive an honest feedback on the relevant topics. With socialMeme, users can recognise trends early, continuously monitor competitors and their social media activities and reveal the successes of their own communication measures. socialMeme is a modern cloud application that fulfils the German data protection requirements and is now available.
