High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) invests in online platform GLAMOURRENT

November 12, 2013

The Berlin based start-up is a B2C online designer dress and accessories rental platform for women’s special occasions. With the successful closing of the seed financing round with HTGF and two serial entrepreneur business angels, GLAMOURRENT will drive its technological development and address the immense market potential.

The Shareconomy is revolutionizing consumer behavior away from ownership to a pay-as-you-live lifestyle of sensible consumption. GLAMOURRENT combines this trend with a real need that every women knows: An upcoming special event and a closet full of nothing to wear.

GLAMOURRENT solves this problem by offering women access to a dream closet full of beautiful designer dresses for a fraction of the price. GLAMOURRENT’s uncomplicated and affordable online service allows women to always look their best in the perfect outfit, without having to pay the high price. GLAMOURRENT also offers a value proposition for designers by giving them access to a wider target audience through their service.

From a technological perspective, GLAMOURRENT has high ambitions. The platform is developed and designed for fast scaling and internationalization. The complex logistical processes are supported by an individual, web-based system and the flow of goods is automized. The technical integration of designers and external service providers into the reservation system allows maximum utilization. GLAMOURRENT is also planning an app where customers can be inspired and exchange ideas on what to rent for their special events “on the go”.

“We used the feedback from hundreds of women as well as the experience from our offline rentals to develop the online platform. The possibilities to address and leverage the potential around a woman’s special occasion are immense”, the two founders Claudia von Boeselager and Anna Mangold confirm.

“We are convinced of GLAMOURRENT’s enormous market potential. Customer behavior as well as how women use, own and enjoy high quality dresses are changing. GLAMOURRENT addresses this trend perfectly”, explains Marvin D. Andrä, Investment Manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds.

GLAMOURRENT puts the customer at the center of all activities and offers personal advice for the perfect look. GLAMOURRENT provides useful advice and information and involves the customer in the development of the service offering. Customers can moreover share their experiences and exchange tips and tricks via the online platform.

GLAMOURRENT will kick-off in Germany shortly, focusing on the rental of designer dresses and accessories for the launch and continuously adding additional offerings and services.
