Hematris – Specialist in blood clotting – attracts new investors

November 25, 2009

Aurelia Private Equity and KfW, the bank for medium-sized companies, are investing 2.0 million EUR in Hematris Wound Care. An investment for getting Hematrix® onto the market.

Hematris Wound Care GmbH has developed a unique wound patch, the “active“ patch Hematrix®. This patch stops the most severe, even arterial injury-related bleeding and external bleeding caused by surgical intervention in just a few minutes. The biodegradable patch is coated with blood-clotting components.

Hematrix® is being launched on the market by the 2.0 million EUR investment by Aurelia Private Equity GmbH, Frankfurt and die KfW Mittelstandsbank.

Dr. Stefan Bertsch, founder of Hematris is excited about the investment: There is no competition for “Hematrix® anywhere in the world. Working together with our new investors, we have the potential to position ourselves in a lucrative and growing market environment and develop new applications in the field of external blood clotting“. According to Georg Langer, Head of Sales at Hematrix, Hematrix® will be marketed in both medial/clinical and emergency and rescue environments.

Wolfgang Posselt, CEO of Aurelia Private Equity sees an enormous potential for this Hematris product and the real appeal of the investment. Jens Unger of the KfW Banking Group shares this opinion.

Backed by the seed financing in Hematris Wound Care by High-Tech Gründerfonds together with Berliner Peppermint Holding GmbH, the preclinical prototype of this wound patch has been developed into a marketable product. Following clinical studies on patients achieving impressive results in stopping arterial bleeding, Hematris satisfied the CE Certification requirements needed to launch the product.
