Big Data made easy – HTGF invests in altusInsight GmbH. The company enables easy and straight-forward handling of huge data-sets with their cloud-based Big Data solution LambdaNow

February 19, 2015

A very dynamic market for alternative approaches regarding storage and processing of huge data-sets (“big data”) far beyond the scope of conventional solutions is currently evolving. However, the setup, configuration and operation of these solutions is not trivial, requiring long periods of vocational adjustment, a lot of manual customization and very special know-how and experience.

LambdaNow is addressing these problems by offering a complete processing pipeline for big data with just a few clicks – without having to deal with endless configuration or installation details.

“The Lambda architecture is based on the idea of different functional layers – data entry, real-time analysis, permanent storage and long-term evaluation, indexing of data-sets for analysis queries and the input of the analysis request.“ explains Christian Richter, managing director of altusInsight. “For each of these blocks, LambdaNow will offer several established software tools that will automatically configure and connect. The user is able to assemble a data processing pipeline that perfectly fits the customer’s use case or, alternatively, may activate a ready-made configuration with tools and frameworks pre-selected by the specialists from altusInsight. Minutes later, the system is ready to accept data, and business analysts can start to run their first queries.”

“The demand for analytics solutions is rising” says Michael Wieser, investment manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds ”creating the need for scalable, flexible software infrastructure. That is exactly what altusInsight is focusing on.”

LambdaNow will soon be available as a SaaS to the general public. The already functional part regarding Hadoop deployment has been in use as an enterprise edition in the telecommunication sector for over a year now. LambdaNow can be used in public and in private cloud environments.
